“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.“-Abraham Lincoln
When I wrote my previous article about Cori Bush, I didn’t think she could open her mouth even further and make a fool of herself. But indeed, I was proven wrong.
One central critique about Bush in the prior article was the exposing of her cantankerous and obtuse personality that does genuinely nothing positive and only alienates the support needed to actually achieve anything.
So far, Bush has gotten away with this, able to point to some contrivance or diluted viewpoint in her argument that will result in her devout base backing her up. And for those in power who actually seek to introduce reforms, dealing with her divisive behavior is an unnecessary distraction. She seems to think that the issues that she cares most about can only be solved by her, and all other solutions are racist, sexist, you name it. In short, she sees herself in a Messianic light and she sees her opponents as wholly malevolent Philistines intent on spreading “hate.” For example, she has claimed that all of the bills of her opposition are racist, or that America is ‘racist AF’. Rather, having never received adequate pushback, again opened her mouth and exposed herself not as an anti-racist politician, but as one that offers cover and support for the antisemites and racists of Hamas.
Bush’s defense of Rashida Tlaib, someone who has stoked the fatal wave of hatred against Jews on a scale unseen in decades, such as by continuing to promote the false claim that Israel destroyed a hospital, should be enough for her to be cast off. Instead, she has doubled down, practically making herself culpable for any imminent future attacks on Jews by the roving bands of antisemites that have proliferated in America’s cities since October 7th.
By calling for a ceasefire, Bush is displaying her true ignorance. Hamas, a terrorist organization, has publicly declared that they will not honor any ceasefire. Thus, for Israel to accept one would be suicide. How has the false claim of Israel committing ‘ethnic genocide’ become so widely accepted? Is it a result of the militant anti-Israel movement that will take claims of “oppression” as gospel truth? An answer probably lies somewhere there, but it doesn’t make these claims by Bush any less aggravating. As though it needs to be explained to a toddler, Hamas as a terror group must be eradicated at all costs, for it has publicly proclaimed its mission of indiscriminately killing every Jewish man, woman, and child. Thus, Israel must receive all the backing necessary so it can eliminate them, and since you Bush are an American without ties to the Middle East, how about you just stay out of it and let those actually on the ground conduct a war of national defense?
In response to Bush’s claims that her colleagues are targeting “Black and Brown people” “who look like” Talib, again, it is important that we reject the notion that racism is the proximate cause of everything, as while there is still sadly racism and prejudice in the world, it is not always the cause of everything. For example, people such as Dalia al-Aqidi, who is running against Ilhan Omar, put to shame the claim that it is “racism” that causes one to oppose the Squad. Furthermore, al-Aqidi is running on a much better platform by being genuinely inclusive, including by supporting Israel, the only Jewish state in the world. Al-Aquidi is a hero and the embodiment of a true American immigrant.
In the end, Bush has no idea what she is doing, claiming “The people of St. Louis…sent me to D.C. to make sure that I’m speaking for those who are marginalized and oppressed.” Listen, St. Louis is a city in rapid need of support. They elected you to help rebuild their great city and restore it to prominence, not to meaningless accusations around at colleagues. You’ve done nothing tangible in the past four years to uplift your constituents, and that is why opposition is emerging, such as Wesley Bell. Whether you are a Republican or moderate, it might be a good idea to back him, for though he is a Democrat, he has shown to be realistic, and in fact, even if it seems cliche, it’s perhaps true that no one could be worse for a city than Cori Bush.
